Fiskariina by iittala and Oiva Toikka is yet another addition to the 50th anniversary collection of glass birds. 2010 marks 50 years of collaboration between Oiva Toikka and iittala and Fiskariina...Fiskariina by iittala and Oiva Toikka is yet another addition to the 50th anniversary collection of glass birds. 2010 marks 50 years of collaboration between Oiva Toikka and iittala and Fiskariina nods playfully to iittala’s parent company, Fiskars and their famous scissors with this splendid bird. Fiskariina’s elongated clear glass body is wrapped intricately in ribbons of black glass – showcasing the tremendous skill of iittala glassblowers. The beak is another nod to Fiskars – a split beak that reminds one of a pair of scissors.
The 2010 collection of birds by Oiva Toikka are individually mouth-blown by the master glassblowers at iittala’s glassworks in Nuutajärvi, Finland. Each handcrafted iittala Toikka Fiskariina carries the signature “O. Toikka Nuutajärvi”on its base to ensure its authenticity.
