Description

All black with textured yet sleek plumage and a strong, bent beak, this bird is instantly recognized as a Raven. Ravens have many cultural and literary meanings from wisdom and loss to insight and fertility. The symbolic bird stands on a pedestal foot, which lends a stunning silhouette at every angle. The bird was designed by artist Tarmo Maaronen and mouth-blown by a small team of skilled blowers. Maaronen was born in 1963 in Urjala, Finland and has been blowing glass since 1979. He worked as a teacher of Scandinavian glass techniques from 1995-1997, until he founded his own glass studio Bianco Blu. The handcrafted nature makes each one a unique collector's item; it would also make a wonderful gift for a fan of Edgar Allen Poe due to the famous poem of the same name.
