Description
This Toikka bird was originally designed in 1997 and is inspired by the real Tengmalm's Owl, named after Swedish Naturalist Peter Gustaf Tengmalm. Artist Oiva Toikka captures the species' wondrous gaze, plump body and stoic posture in his mouth-blown in Finland rendition. A speckled motif adds interest to the green body, but the focus falls on its moonlit eyes. This bird is referred to as Tengmans Owl in the iittala catalog
