An opening at the tail and beak of this bird allows light to fill its inside and shine through the brilliant colors of Lilac and Rose Olive. The shape of the head and body of the Colori Bird are identical – only the scale is different – continuing with the symmetrical design. Many thick layers of glass form the finished piece.
*Rose Olive is a special complex glass color that changes depending on lighting conditions. In bright, natural light the color can appear rose while in low-light settings the color can appear more olive (see inset photos).
Each Vigna Bird is individually handcrafted by master glassblowers at iittala’s renowned glassworks in Nuutajärvi, Finland. The time-intensive process of forming, cutting, and polishing each bird showcases the skill of these craftsmen.
