Mimicking the actual nature of its namesake, iittala introduces the Toikka Magpie to delight both avid glass bird collectors and those new to designer Oiva Toikka's handiwork. A personality that lends itself to be both sweet and mischievous, Toikka plays with contrasting colors to capture this bird's complicated disposition. The Magpie's neck and tail end are wrapped in jet black glass while a streak of cloudy white runs across the bird's middle. A flash of color is given to both the head and wings as the iridescent metallic blue shimmers in the light. The 2011 collection of birds by Oiva Toikka are individually mouth-blown by the master glassblowers at iittala's glassworks in Nuutajrvi, Finland. Each handcrafted iittala Toikka Magpie carries the signature "O. Toikka Nuutajrvi" on its base to ensure its authenticity.
