More about iittala Toikka Knitter Oiva Toikka brings us yet another masterpiece for 2010. The Knitter by Oiva Toikka and iittala is a beautifully patterned glass bird worthy of its spot among the 2010 anniversary collection – Toikka’s 50th year working with iittala. A gorgeous rolling pattern of white, light green and brown ribbons adorn the Knitter’s stout body, a remarkable feat by the master glassblowers at iittala. A strong tail and beak adorn either end of the Knitter, the tail comprised of clear, brown and green glass cascading over each other and the beak formed from a strong, reflective glass.
The 2010 collection of birds by Oiva Toikka are individually mouth-blown by the master glassblowers at iittala’s glassworks in Nuutajärvi, Finland. Each handcrafted iittala Toikka Knitter carries the signature “O. Toikka Nuutajärvi”on its base to ensure its authenticity.
