A very special bird, the Curlew is much larger than most iittala birds. Designed by artist Oiva Toikka, this bird features a stunning pattern of gray weaving through a dark maroon body, almost black in spots. This extraordinary Toikka bird has been in production since 1998.

Oiva Toikka (1931-2019) is one of the most well-known personalities of Finnish glass. Toikka’s projects offered a departure from the clean-lined designs Finland is known for. The creations from Toikka’s imagination have been brought to life by the master glassblowers at iittala for over 50 years. Striking Bird

This is a great bird. The shape is very dramatic. The colors are exquisite. Mine has more hints of blue than the one pictured. One of my favorites!
