This striking songbird is frequently seen as they slowly and deliberately seek out beetles and caterpillars high in the dense tree canopy surrounding Fallingwater.
As always the real bird is just a starting point for Oiva Toikka. The Fallingwater Red is strongly stylized using the highest craftmanship in glassmaking to give an impression of the living bird. Each bird is signed with the name of the artist, name of the producer - iittala and of course the name of Fallingwater. Each bird is also numbered and there is only a limited edition of birds, 2500 pcs.
A portion of the sales price supports the restoration and upkeep of Frank Lloyd Wright's masterwork, Fallingwater.
All of the Toikka birds are highly collected, individually made, mouth-blown pieces of art. Each bird is handmade at iittala’s famous glassworks in Nuutajärvi, Finland and carries a mark ensuring authenticity. These birds are great gifts for bird-lovers and those who appreciate mouth-blown glass art.
