This beautiful Summer Grouse set includes both Summer Grouse birds in different states of alertness. Both birds have a raised, chocolate-colored spiral which creates an ornamental plumage of oranges, yellows and grays. The Grouses are shaped like tear drops, with a small head, delicate beak, and subtle tail.
The remarkable Limited Edition Sleeping Summer Grouse was designed by Oiva Toikka for Finn Grand Fest in 2005 and is a limited-edition of only 1,200. The next year, Oiva Toikka released the Summer Grouse, a smaller version of the limited-edition Sleeping Summer Grouse, and is a beautiful bird, awake and curious.
Each bird carries the signature of the artist, Oiva Toikka, and of his studio in Nuutajrvi, Finland on the base.
